NEW THIS WEEK

 

OUTREACH EVENT AT HALLOWEEN John and Andrea Bridges are organising an outreach event to the families accompanying their children doing "Trick or Treat" this Halloween (Sat 31st October 5-7pm) on the Chancery Park area of the village. As last year we will be handing out "Bags of Hope" with sweets, glowsticks and some literature about the real significance of Hallowe'en. (There is so much in an apostrophe, isn’t there?)

We would welcome anyone who would like to come and help hand out hot chocolate and bags. as well as support to pay for the materials, sweets, drinks and so on. If anyone has a gazebo we can borrow that would also be gratefully received.

 

JOHN BRIDGES CHARITY WALK John has started walking for his October 100km Sponsored walk to raise funds for the Water Capture & Garden of learning at Rhema School in Rural Eastern Uganda. Money raised will be used for our rainwater collection system and to start planting the permaculture Garden of Learning in the school near Budaka in Eastern Uganda. The rainwater collection helps increase the supply of clean drinking water for the children and the garden will provide both fresh food and also be a resource for the children to learn about sustainable food production in the African ecosystem.

CANCELLATION OF HOLY COMMUNION ON THURSDAY 22^nd OCTOBER Please note that there will be no service at St Martin’s that day, as Exning Primary School will be holding their Harvest Festival in the church.

 

PLEASE NOTE British Summer Time ends at 2 am on Sunday 25^th October when clocks go back one hour. If you forget this, it means you will be an hour early for any services you attend that day – time for prayer and reflection before the service starts!

BIBLE STUDY The bible study group will resume on Wednesday 21^st October, when we will begin a study of the Book of Exodus. We normally meet on the 1^st and 3^rd Wednesdays of every month at 10 am. The meetings are held by Zoom. If you want to join us, please talk to me and I can add you the distribution list to receive the Zoom link. All are very welcome. John Pascall

 

TIME FOR TEA AND FRIENDSHIP

Join us on the first and third Monday of each month, unless otherwise advertised. At our meeting on 19^th October, we will wear something pink in support of cancer charities. Meetings are held at the ECCH from 2–4 pm.
