CHRISTIAN AID WEEK There was a wonderful response from the benefice churches to the envelope collections, as well as our friends at the Methodists and St Mary’s, who between them gave £467 to support the work of Christian Aid.
The Rogation Walk on May 9th, beating the bounds of the parish, and calling at all the Newmarket churches on the way, was greatly enjoyed by the participants. Donations from this when added to the envelope collections has allowed us to send £601.00. Thank you to everyone for working towards sending this donation to address people’s pressing needs. Jan Lovegrove
TIME FOR TEA AND FRIENDSHIP We warmly invite you to join us for tea and cake at our friendly, informal group. Meetings take place on the first and third Monday of each month, from 14:00 to 16:00, at the ECCH. Our upcoming gatherings are scheduled for Monday, 15th June, and Monday, 6th July. This event forms part of St Martin’s church outreach initiative, aimed at fostering community and friendship. Further Information: If you would like more details, please contact Christine Pearce on 07754667663.
CONGRATULATIONS: To our Churchwardens (Christine Pearce and Christine Shand in the parish of Exning with Landwade and Michael Frape in the parish of Exning St Agnes) on their formal admission to their posts by Archdeacon David in the past week.
PREVIOUSLY ADVERTISED
PLEASE NOTE There will not be a service of Prayerful Eucharist at St Agnes on 20th June as Liam is involved in teaching ordinands.
PSALMS, SPIRITUALS AND SONNETS Ely Consort with The Quintessential Ensemble, Saturday 27th June, 7.30pm St Mary's Church Burwell. John Rutter’s Psalmfest will be the major choral work; this is a collection of varied psalm settings showcasing the full range of John Rutter’s music, amply demonstrating why he is loved by choirs and audiences alike - you can expect beautiful melodies, joyful rhythms and dramatic climaxes. Psalmfest is accompanied by The Quintessential Ensemble, adding even more colour to this wonderful piece. The programme also includes three traditional Spirituals, arranged in very different styles for unaccompanied choir, culminating in a highly energetic version of the Battle of Jericho. In addition to instrumental items performed by The Quintessential Ensemble, the programme is completed by a performance of James Bassi’s Harpsonnets; as the name suggests, this is a setting of three sonnets by Shakespeare, accompanied by harp. Tickets: £20 (u18s free) Online or in Burwell at CentrePeace, PO & Tina's
FOOTSTEPS - for the rest of the academic year will be focused on the many parts of Creation - skies, planets, oceans, fish, flowers, trees, animals and people. Thank you for your continuing prayers. Sarah Price

NEWMARKET FOODBANK Kerri Davies from the Newmarket Foodbank has issued a plea for help. The foodbank is very low on everything. Recent donations have been very low; however, demand remains the same. Though Kerri says they are in need of everything, their urgent needs are for pasta, soup, cereal, and tin tomatoes. They are happy to pick-up any donations if required, and they would also be grateful for any financial donations you care to make. Please contact Kerri Davies at 07597582546, or www.newmarketopendoor.org.uk if you have any questions.
