ANNOUNCEMENTS AND INFORMATION

NEW THIS WEEK

BENEFICE GATHERING   Please have in your diaries 18th September at 7.30 p.m. for an evening in Exning church hall with cheese and wine (and non-alcoholic alternative). The intention is to get to know one another across the benefice, and also to think about the good news we have and want to share with others. Liam Beadle

PREVIOUSLY ADVERTISED

TIME FOR TEA AND FRIENDSHIP Come along and join our friendly group for tea and cake. At our last meeting, we welcomed Emily, a singer-songwriter, who entertained us.

Our next meeting are on Monday 7th September, followed by Monday 21st September. 2-4pm in the ECCH.

For more information about the group, please contact Christine Pearce on 07754 667663 or email christine.m.pearce2020@gmail.com.

COFFEE FOR ALL is back on Saturday 12th September, 10-12 noon in St Martins. My thanks to all those who have contributed wonderful cakes in the past. If anyone feels they could bake for 12th, that would be lovely! Sally Pascall

RIDE AND STRIDE It’s that time of year again, and we’re looking forward to opening our church for the annual Ride and Stride for Historic Churches. Taking place on Saturday 12th September. If you’d like to take part and be sponsored, you could cycle, walk, or drive a route around churches you’ve always wanted to visit but rarely find open. You could even bring a picnic. To find out more about taking part or being sponsored, please contact Christine on 07754667663 or email christine.m.pearce2020@gmail.com.

A DATE FOR YOUR DIARY Newmarket Community Choir will be holding a concert in St Martins on Saturday 26th September at 7.30pm. They will be singing the usual eclectic programme. Tickets £5, under 12s free. A cake stall and hot drinks will be available. Any profits will go to Newmarket Nexus. Sally Pascall

ST MARTIN’S CHURCH DECLUTTER 12th September 1.30 onwards. On the afternoon of the 12th September, while St Martin’s church is open for Ride and Stride, we would like to start to declutter both vestries. As building works are expected to begin in the future and many cupboards will need to be moved for some works to proceed, this is a good opportunity to tidy and declutter before winter. If you can help, please sign up on the list at the back of the church. With many thanks Christine Pearce

BIBLE STUDY The bible study group will be taking a break for August and September. When we resume in October, we will be starting a look at the Book of Exodus. If you want to join us then, please talk to me - John Pascall (email john.pascall@outlook.com)

NEWMARKET FOODBANK Kerri Davies from the Newmarket Foodbank has issued a plea for help. The foodbank is very low on everything. Recent donations have been very low; however, demand remains the same. Though Kerri says they are in need of everything, their urgent needs are for pasta, soup, cereal, and tin tomatoes. They are happy to pick-up any donations if required, and they would also be grateful for any financial donations you care to make. Please contact Kerri Davies at 07597582546, or www.newmarketopendoor.org.uk if you have any questions.

THE NEWMARKET COMMUNITY PANTRY, based at The Racing Centre, provides affordable food and essential items to those in need, offering long-term support through a partnership-based approach. For a one-off £5 membership fee, members can do a weekly shop for just £3. We aim to help individuals not just with food but by connecting them to the right resources for lasting stability. The pantry is open on Monday and Friday from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., and Wednesday from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. If you, or someone you know could benefit, visit us at The Racing Centre or contact us at community@theracingcentre.org or 01638 662828
